Health & Hygiene in Preschools

Preschools should refer to the guidelines on the management of haze in the Early Childhood Development Centre (ECDC) Code of Practice. ECDA will monitor the situation and take guidance from National Environment Agency (NEA).

To help preschools plan ahead and activate haze action measures, preschools should refer to the 24-hour Pollution Standards Index (PSI) forecast and corresponding health advisory published by NEA. For example, preschools can use the 24-hour PSI forecast to decide whether to proceed with a scheduled outdoor activity or field trip the following day.

The 1-hour PM2.5 concentration readings are a good indicator of the current air quality and can be used as a guide to plan or adjust immediate activities, for example, whether to bring children for outdoor activities.
