Preschools may administer medicine to children with written authorisation from parents. Containers of any medicine or drug are clearly labelled with children's names and instructions for administration.

Proper records of medicine administration should include:

- Child's or infant's name and medicine

- Dosage, manner, date and time of administration

- Name and signature of administrator

- Written authorisation from parent or guardian (including their name and signature)

Some preschools may adopt more stringent policies and not administer certain, or any medication. Preschools should communicate with parents on such policies and include the information in the preschool’s handbook for parents. Parents may approach the preschool directly for clarification or more details on their policies.
