What is the Early Childhood Development preschools (ECDC) Act 2017?
Setting up a Preschool / ECDC Licence
The Early Childhood Development preschools Act (2017) defines Early Childhood Development Centre (ECDC) services as “the provision of care or education, or care and education, habitually of 5 or more children who are below 7 years of age, for a fee, reward or profit by a person who is not a relative or guardian of all the children”. It is an offence under Section 6(1) of the ECDC Act to operate an ECDC without a licence.
An ECDC licence is required if you wish to care for 5 or more children. Please refer to Guide to Setting Up an Early Childhood Development Centre.
