How can preschools ensure their curriculum supports the development of the child?
Programme & Curriculum
Preschool programmes should provide a holistic education for children. Programmes designed for children from birth to three should be guided by the Early Years Development Framework (EYDF) and comprises of four areas of development:
- Cognitive development
- Communication and language development
- Physical development
- Social and emotional development
Programmes designed for children aged four to six should be guided by the Nurturing Early Learners: A Curriculum Framework for Preschool Education in Singapore (NEL Framework) and comprises of five learning areas:
- Aesthetics and creative expression
- Discovery of the world
- Health, safety and motor skills development
- Language and literacy
- Numeracy
