Is an import or export permit required for goods imported under an ATA Carnet for exhibition purposes?

Generally, you do not need to obtain a separate import or export permit when using an ATA Carnet, as it serves as a comprehensive document for all Customs transactions, replacing the need for individual customs declarations at each checkpoint.

However, if the goods you are importing or exporting are controlled items under the purview of Competent Authorities (CAs), you must consult the relevant CAs. If required, obtain an import or export permit via TradeNet before importation or exportation. In such cases, you must present the import or export permit along with the ATA Carnet and the goods for clearance at Customs checkpoints.
