What are unscheduled Discrete Organic Chemicals (DOCs)?
An unscheduled Discrete Organic Chemical (DOC) refers to any chemical that belongs to the class of chemical compounds consisting of compounds of carbon, with the exception of its oxides, sulphides and metal carbonates. They are identifiable by their chemical names, structural formula (if known), and Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) registry numbers (if assigned).
DOC excludes the following types of chemicals:
- Oligomers and polymers that may or may not contain phosphorus, sulphur or fluorine;
- Inorganic chemicals;
- Carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide (referred to as "oxides of carbon" in the above definition); and
- Carbon disulphide or carbonyl sulphide (referred to as "sulphides of carbon" in the above definition).
