Why did Singapore implement Advance Export Declaration (AED)?
Advance Export Declaration (AED) enables Singapore Customs to facilitate legitimate and secured trade through measures such as timely export risk assessment and collaboration with overseas Customs administrations via Mutual Recognition Arrangements (MRAs).
AED is a recommended guideline under the World Customs Organisation (WCO).
Implementing AED will enhance Singapore's status as a secure and responsible trading hub as our exports will be recognised as of a lower risk. A secure trading attracts international trade, an essential element for the development of Singapore's trade industry.
A number of countries have started requesting for information to be provided in advance. Implementing AED in Singapore will align Singapore's practice with the Customs administrations of other countries.
