My sister sent me a S$2,500 laptop from US by airfreight. Goods and Services Tax (GST) was paid. Can I claim a refund at the airport when I depart from Singapore if I bring it to UK?
The laptop is subject to Goods and Services Tax (GST) at the prevailing rate on the Cost, Insurance and Freight (CIF) value of the goods upon importation. Please note that GST refund for tourists is only applicable to goods purchased in Singapore from retail shops which are participating in the Tourist Refund Scheme (TRS). Therefore, the GST paid is not refundable when you leave Singapore.
