I have ordered some items via the internet. They have been sent to Singapore by post (for example, via. Express Mail Service). Why are the items retained?

All goods imported through postal service are subject to clearance by the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officers based at the Singapore Post Centre (SPC).

A parcel could be retained if it contains dutiable goods, controlled goods or prohibited goods or if the parcel contains non-dutiable and non-controlled goods of a total CIF value above S$400 with no invoice attached to it at the time of arrival.

Please click here for more information on clearance procedures of postal parcels.
