I want to import a motorcycle solely for racing overseas. It will not be used on the roads in Singapore. Do I have to pay duty and GST for this import?

If you are importing a motorcycle that is not meant for use on Singapore public roads, you may be eligible for duty-exemption. However, GST is still payable upon importation of your motorcycle.

For Singapore Customs' assessment of your eligibility for duty exemption, please submit an application at https://go.gov.sg/customs-doc with the following supporting documents:

  • Letter from the Land Transport Authority (LTA) confirming that the motorcycle is for off-road use;
  • A cover letter seeking duty exemption; and
  • All other relevant supporting documents for the import (e.g. Bill of Lading (B/L) or Air WayBill (AWB), commercial invoice, packing list, etc.).
