A sample of imported liquor was sent for laboratory analysis at the request of Singapore Customs but the result has not been out. Can I opt out of the laboratory test?
When importing liquor, you have to pay duty by obtaining an In-Payment "GST (including Duty Exemption)" (IPT-GST) permit.
The assessed alcoholic strength and volume of the beverage will be based on the information declared in the inward permit.
Additional duty has to be paid on the difference if the analysed result from the laboratory test of the alcoholic strength and volume of the beverage is higher than the one declared.
No refund will be granted for any overpayment.
Action may be taken against the Declaring Agent if the results obtained from the laboratory analysis differ from that declared in the IPT-GST permit.
