My friend (tourist) bought an item from a TRS participating retailer in Singapore and she left Singapore without claiming the GST refund. Can she still claim back the GST?
Please be advised that the GST refund for Tourists is only applicable to goods purchased from retailers participating in the Tourist Refund Scheme (TRS) in Singapore. Before departing from the airport, tourists need to proceed to the electronic TRS (eTRS) self-help kiosk to apply for the GST refund. Tourist may need to present the purchases/ goods unopened and unconsumed, original invoices/ receipts and boarding pass/ confirmed air ticket for Customs verification. If a tourist has forgotten or was unable to get his GST refund during the current trip, he may still claim the GST refund if he returns to Singapore (and departs from the Airport) within 2 months from the date of purchase. For more information on Tourist Refund Scheme, please visit Singapore Customs website.
