I received personal gifts from overseas via parcel post. Are duty and GST payable? (Gifts contain dutiable goods)

There are no duty-free concessions on dutiable goods, such as liquor and tobacco products, imported by post.

Postal parcels with dutiable goods will be retained by the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officers at the Singapore Post Centre. You will be informed through a Letter of Notification from SingPost to collect the parcel at Singapore Post Centre personally or through an authorised representative. You are required to produce the Letter of Notification and the commercial invoice during collection. You may appoint an authorised representative to collect on your behalf. The parcel will be released after examination by ICA officers in the presence of you or your authorised representative, upon payment of the GST and duty.

Please refer to Customs website for more information on the importation of goods by postal or courier service.
