The exporter has to obtain a Strategic Trade Scheme (STS) Individual permit (XO-prefixed strategic goods permit) to export a physical strategic good.

An Intangible Transfer of Technology permit only applies to the electronic transmission of controlled Strategic Goods software or technology.
