What happens to the outstanding MediShield Life premiums after renouncing my Singapore Citizenship or Permanent Resident status?

Updated by CPF
As insurance coverage had been provided to you before you renounced your Singapore Citizenship or Permanent Resident status, MediShield Life outstanding premiums remain payable even after renouncement.

If you have outstanding MediShield Life premiums, the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) will carry out enforcement actions, including the imposition of compounded interest of 4% and penalties of up to 17% on your outstanding premiums. IRAS may also appoint agents such as CPF Board and banks to recover your outstanding premiums from your CPF savings or bank accounts.

To avoid enforcement actions, please pay your outstanding premiums in full. You can refer to "How can I view and pay my/my dependant(s)'s CareShield Life/ElderShield and MediShield Life premiums?" for payment options.
