What happens to my MediShield Life, CareShield Life or ElderShield or Integrated Shield Plan coverage if I renounce my Singapore Citizenship or Permanent Residency?

Updated by CPF
When you renounce your Singapore Citizenship or Permanent Residency, your MediShield Life, CareShield Life or ElderShield coverage will be terminated upon renouncement.

If you are covered under an Integrated Shield Plan (IP), the MediShield Life component of your IP will terminate at the end of the current policy year. To continue with your policy, you need to check with your insurer whether they will insure you fully without the MediShield Life component.

Foreigners who were given a concession to remain under the MediShield Life scheme prior to 1 November 2015 or ElderShield scheme prior to 1 April 2024 should note that CPF accounts for all foreigners have closed on 1 April 2024. Coverage will continue as long as premiums are paid. If no alternative payment arrangements are made and premiums remain unpaid, your MediShield Life or ElderShield cover will lapse.
