Will interest and penalties be imposed if I make partial payment for my outstanding MediShield Life or CareShield Life premiums before the IRAS deadline?
Yes, paying only part of your outstanding MediShield Life or CareShield Life premiums would not stop interest and penalties from being charged. To avoid these charges, you will need to pay the full amount by the deadline stated in your IRAS notice.
If any MediShield Life or CareShield Life premiums remain unpaid, you may continue to be charged annual interest of 4% (compounded) and penalties of up to 17% of the outstanding amount.
We encourage you to pay your premiums in full by the deadline to avoid any further charges or enforcement action. For payment options, refer to "How can I view and pay my/my dependant(s)s' CareShield Life/ElderShield and MediShield Life premiums?"
