Are CPF contributions payable if I am on an overseas-based contract and working in Singapore temporarily?

Updated by CPF
CPF contributions are not payable if you are on an overseas-based contract and working in Singapore on a temporary basis. Examples of temporary work arrangements include attending meetings, conferences, or training, or working remotely in Singapore temporarily for personal reasons.

Please note that while your employer is still obligated to make CPF contributions for non-temporary stints in Singapore, enforcement may be limited where your employer is based overseas with no presence in Singapore and is not registered with ACRA. In such cases, CPFB may have limited ability to assist with your claims.

If you and your employer are unsure of your CPF obligations, you may write to us with the relevant facts of your case for assessment.
