Why am I not allowed to make MediSave Care withdrawals to cover my parent or children’s long-term care needs?

The duration of severe disability can vary significantly, potentially leading to substantial withdrawals over a long period. Allowing individuals with severe disability to tap into their parent or children’s MediSave for withdrawals could potentially impact their parent or children’s MediSave adequacy and compromise their ability to afford their own healthcare needs.

Singaporeans who need financial assistance and have low MediSave balances may apply for ElderFund. If they are still unable to afford their long-term care costs, additional assistance is available through schemes such as MediFund and ComCare.
