I am the family member or caregiver of a Mentally Incapacitated (MI) Patient. Can I receive CareShield Life/ElderShield/MediSave Care payouts on their behalf?
You may nominate your own bank account to receive monthly CareShield Life/ElderShield/MediSave Care payouts on behalf of a Mentally Incapacitated (MI) patient. However, if the payout is not made to the patient or their nursing home, the family member or caregiver must obtain a deputyship within 12 months to prevent the suspension of payouts. This measure is in place to safeguard the patient’s interests.
