How much is the outpatient deductible? Will I need to pay more out-of-pocket for outpatient consultation?
The outpatient deductible is set at $500 to strike a balance between ensuring that it can sieve out smaller bills meaningfully and moderate the extent to which premiums need to increase by, whilst not overly affecting affordability for patients. It applies for all admissions on or after 1 June 2026 and is fully payable by MediSave. There should generally be no increase in out-of-pocket payable as you may use MediSave to pay for the outpatient deductible.
There is also MediFund to help those who are unable to afford their bills even after subsidies, MediShield Life and MediSave. Nobody will be denied appropriate care due to an inability to pay.
