How much extra interest can I earn on my CPF savings?

Updated by CPF
To help boost your retirement savings, the Government pays extra interest on the first $60,000 of your combined CPF balances (capped at $20,000 for your Ordinary Account (OA)), so that all CPF members benefit — with those who have lower balances benefiting more. The amount of extra interest you earn depends on your combined CPF balances and age.

If you're below 55 years old
You earn an extra 1% per annum on the first $60,000 of your combined CPF balances (capped at $20,000 for your OA):
  • Extra interest earned on your Special Account (SA) and MediSave Account (MA) balances goes into the respective accounts.
  • Extra interest earned on your OA balance goes into your SA to enhance your retirement savings.
If you're 55 years old and above
You earn an extra 2% per annum on the first $30,000 and 1% per annum on the next $30,000 of your combined CPF balances (capped at $20,000 for OA):
  • Extra interest earned on your Retirement Account (RA) and MA balances goes into the respective accounts.
  • Extra interest earned on your OA balance goes into your RA to enhance your retirement savings.
  • If you've joined CPF LIFE, the extra interest earned will be paid into your RA or accumulated with the interest earned on the CPF LIFE premiums of all CPF LIFE members.
How is my combined CPF balance computed?
Your combined CPF balance is calculated using your accounts in this order:
  1. Retirement Account (RA), including any CPF LIFE premium balance
  2. Ordinary Account (OA), capped at $20,000
  3. Special Account (SA)
  4. MediSave Account (MA)
The $20,000 cap on OA applies because OA savings are short-term in nature and can be withdrawn for purposes such as housing and education.
