Are CPF contributions payable if I am working in Singapore for an overseas platform operator?

CPF contributions are required on net earnings to any Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident doing platform work in Singapore, even if the platform operator is located overseas. You should communicate your CPF rights clearly to the overseas platform operator before the start of your platform work to avoid subsequent disputes.

You should also research your prospective platform operator to ensure that it has legitimate business presence in Singapore and is registered with Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA). If your CPF contributions are not paid on time or discrepancies are found, please approach your platform operator for clarification immediately while documentary evidence is fresh. If your platform operator does not provide you with a satisfactory explanation, you can lodge a report with CPF Board or MOM.

Do note that CPF Board may not be able to assist you in claims against an overseas platform operator with no presence in Singapore and who is not registered with ACRA. You may wish to exercise caution when working with such platform operators.
