For new Singapore Residents who are covered under MediShield Life, we will have a range of checks, including reviewing medical records after they are covered. They are required to declare their health status upon receipt of the In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter from the Immigration Checkpoint Authority of Singapore (ICA).

If they are identified to have serious pre-existing medical conditions, they will be subjected to 30% Additional Premiums for 10 years. Those who make false health declarations will be guilty of an offence under the MediShield Life Scheme Act and will be liable to pay penalties.
