I am using a different unmanned aircraft (UA) model from what is approved in my UA operator permit. What do I need to do?

You should submit the application online to vary the scope of operator permit.

You may also be required to pay an application fee for each addition of a UA type, if any of the following criteria are met:

  • The UA models are of different categories (i.e. aeroplane, rotorcraft, powered-lift, airship) with different handling characteristics;

  • The UA models are not classified as the same family series by the manufacturer (e.g. DJI Phantom 3 series include Standard, Advanced, Professional versions);

  • There is deviation amongst the UA models in terms of the functionalities of the flight critical systems (e.g. propulsion system, power and electrical system, flight control and navigation system, command and control system, and critical structures); or

  • As otherwise advised by CAAS.

Each addition or changes to a UA type will entail a fee of $500.
