What is the difference between a Class A and Class B unmanned aircraft pilot licence (UAPL)?
A Class A UAPL allows the pilot to operate any unmanned aircraft (UA) model with a total weight not exceeding 25kg within a specific category (i.e. aeroplane, rotorcraft, powered-lift and airship).
A Class B UAPL rating allows the pilot to operate only a specific UA model with a total mass of more than 25kg. To qualify for the Class B UAPL rating, the applicant will require a relevant Class A UAPL of the specific category under which that UA model is classified under. The UA model will also need to be approved within an operator permit.
