What subjects do students study?
At Sec 1 and Sec 2, all students take compulsory subjects under Full Subject-Based Banding: English, Mother Tongue Language (MTL), Mathematics, Science, Humanities (History, Geography, Social Studies, Literature in English), Art, Music, Design & Technology (D&T), Food & Consumer Education (FCE) and Physical Education (PE).
Students can offer subjects such as EL, MTL, Mathematics, Science and selected Humanities subjects at more demanding level when they meet the academic requirement and demonstrate positive learning dispositions.
At upper secondary, students can offer a range of elective subjects. Currently, the school offers the following subjects besides EL/MTL/Mathematics: G3 History (core/combined), G3 Geography (core/combined), G3 Literature in English (core), G3 Malay Literature/ Social Studies, G3 Biology (core), G3 Physics (core/combined), G3 Chemistry (core/combined), G3 Additional Mathematics, G2 History (combined), G2 Geography (combined), G2 Literature in English (combined), G2 Design & Technology, G2 Art, G2 Principles of Accounts, G1 Nutrition & Food Science, G1 Science.
Some of our students also take elective subjects (e.g. third language) outside of school. In general, students need not offer more than seven examinable subjects (for those offering mainly G3 subjects) or six examinable subjects (for those offering mainly G2/G1 subjects) at upper secondary level.
