How is Shared Stay-in Senior Caregiving Services (Stay-in SCS) different from other eldercare services such as home care, nursing homes and other assisted living options?
The Stay-in SCS is a private sector-driven assisted living model that aims to support seniors to age in the community through shared caregiving. As the care provided mirrors how caregivers at home support their elderly loved ones, the service is primarily delivered by trained lay persons.
A shared caregiver provides supervision and assistance to a group of seniors living together in a common residence with their activities of daily living, meals and social programmes. Unlike nursing homes or home care services like home nursing/medical services, Stay-in SCS does not provide any medical or nursing-related care for the senior and such tasks will need to be provided by a relevant healthcare professional and/or licensed healthcare service provider.
