Psychiatric rehabilitation and re-integration services are provided at either a stay-in residence or a day centre.

These services include:

  • Lifeskills training: Managing activities of daily living, community living skills etc

  • Social and emotional rehabilitation

  • Recovery support: Symptom management, medication supervision, relapse prevention, follow-up appointments, etc

  • Psychological support: Counselling, family engagement, peer support groups, caregiver education etc

  • Assistance with job skills training and placements

  • Finding housing services

Depending on what your loved one needs, he/ she may be referred to one of the following:

Psychiatric rehabilitation home

  • Short-term stay-in rehabilitation of up to several years for those who require greater supervision.

  • He/ she will be discharged back home or into the community.

Psychiatric shelter home

  • Temporary stay-in rehabilitation of up to two years for those who require lesser supervision.

  • Training in life skills will be provided so that he/ she can live independently in the community after discharge.

  • Support services provided after discharge include:

    • Assistance with finding a job

    • Connecting with housing services

    • Providing follow-ups with community mental health partners

Psychiatric day rehabilitation centre

  • Day rehabilitation services for maintenance of function, ie day programmes that helps him/ her stay stable, engaged and functioning in the community

  • Ongoing training in community living skills
