How can I apply for hearing aids under the Seniors' Mobility and Enabling Fund (SMF)?
SMF subsidy for hearing aids requires assessment by a qualified audiologist at the Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) clinics at Restructured Hospitals and can only be applied through the Restructured Hospitals (RH). To obtain a subsidised referral to the RH, seniors may approach the polyclinics or a Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS) participating clinic. When the senior visits the specialist, he/she will assess the need and suitability for a hearing aid. Thereafter, if the senior meets the criteria for a subsidised hearing aid under the SMF, the clinic will assist in putting up an application on the senior's behalf. Alternatively, seniors may approach the RHs directly at private rate for a private appointment.
