When can students get their concession expiry date extended?

This year, graduating students from the concession groups listed whose concession validity will be ending between 28 December 2024 and 31 December 2024 will have to extend their school smart card (SSC / student concession card) from 1 October 2024 to 31 December 2024 to enjoy the full extended concession period.

Students whose concession cards are not extended by 31 December 2024 can still do so after that, but will not be entitled for refunds for the journeys they have paid adult fares previously.

Eligible students who are graduating in 2025 or later will be informed by their schools to extend their concession validity during their final year of study.  For example, if your course is ending in March 2025, you will be informed to extend your SSC / student concession card in January 2025.

Secondary 4 students progressing to Secondary 5 in 2025 and Secondary 4 students (Integrated Programme) in 2024 are also required to extend their SSC / student concession card from 1 October 2024 to 31 December 2024 to continue enjoying public transport concessionary fares. This is similar to the practice for these students in previous years.
