My spouse and I are eligible for different schemes (i.e. one spouse is eligible for new Shared Parental Leave (SPL) and the other is eligible for Shared Parental Leave Benefit (SPB)). How do we go about sharing the 6 weeks of leave/benefits?

For working couples where one parent qualifies for the new Shared Parental Leave (SPL) and the other qualifies for Shared Parental Leave Benefit (SPB), the default sharing arrangement of sharing the leave equally between parents and flexibility to reallocate the new SPL or SPB to each other will still apply. Such couples are similarly advised to indicate their preferred sharing arrangement in LifeSG within 4 weeks after their child’s birth.
For example, for a couple where the mother qualifies for SPB and the father qualifies for SPL, and they have decided to share the leave equally between parents, the mother may claim SPB equivalent to 3 weeks (or 21 days) of her income, while the father may take 3 weeks of leave from 1 Apr 2025, when the schemes are starting out with a total of 6 weeks.
