Where can I get help if I cannot afford my premiums?

MediShield Life premiums are fully payable by MediSave. If there are insufficient monies in the MediSave account, policyholders can top up their account with cash or their family members with sufficient MediSave balance can step in to support their premium payments.

We understand that changes in one’s household circumstances may mean that one could require additional support for their healthcare expenditure including premiums. In such instances, individuals may call the MediShield Life hotline or visit the MediShield Life e-service website (https://medishieldlife.moh.gov.sg).

Additional Premium Support (APS) is also available for those who face difficulty paying for premiums even after Government subsidies and MediSave use, and have limited family support. The Government will invite individuals with insufficient MediSave balances to apply for APS and help them with the process if they are unable to do so themselves. There is no need for individuals to apply for APS ahead of time.

  • If approved, APS will cover any outstanding MediShield Life and/or CareShield Life premiums for the next two years.

Eligibility for APS is based on, but not limited to the applicants’ and his/her immediate family members’ financial means. Flexibility will be exercised for individuals who may not completely meet the criteria but need help because of extenuating circumstances.

No one will lose coverage from MediShield Life because of an inability to pay their premiums.
