How do Government pensioners benefit from MediShield Life?

Source: https://www.cpf.gov.sg/memberGovernment pensioners can use MediShield Life as a complement to their post-retirement medical benefits, to pay for overall out-of-pocket expenses for large hospitalisation bills that are incurred from:
- Co-payments for large hospitalisation bills that exceed their post-retirement medical benefits
- Ward upgrades beyond their eligibility in Restructured Hospitals e.g. when a pensioner eligible for Class B1 ward chooses to stay in Class A ward
- Private hospital expenses, which are not covered by Civil Service medical benefits today.
The Public Service Division has sent letters to pensioners to inform them of their MediShield Life benefits in 2015.
